General Meeting : July 18, 2001

Congratulations to the thirteen chapter members who passed the water
Chemistry test at the last meeting. Thank you Rick Bishop,
Region 7 Director, for administering the test. We are hoping to offer
the test prior to the October meeting. Free study books are available
from Mike Gregg.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING WILL NOT BE HELD AT THE QUALITY RESORT.
The meeting will be preceeded by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The dinner and
meeting will be held at DIMILLE’S BROTHERS RESTAURANT, 3492 Adams Ave.
San Diego.
Please note that the annual picnic will be on August 5, 2001.
Details will be presented at the meeting.

There were 52 members and 13 guests in attendance.
Introduction of Guests
Mike Gersch of Pool Surfacing 2000, Ken Bowden of Sundek of San
Diego, Brandon Chase of Sunchasers, Red Barrett of SCP, prospective members
Joseph Lerma, John Balster & Martin Bohaty. Erin Manion of SDG&E,
Jim Frazee of San Diego Superior. Rick Bishop, Region 7 Director.
Honorary Members Dick Church, Al Daugherty & John Gharib.
Guest Speakers
Erin Manion of SDG&E was our speaker this evening. Erin answered
questions regarding the rebate programs.
Secretary’s Report
June meeting minutes were accepted as printed. Norm Nieratko
retired from IPSSA effective 6/01/01
Treasurer’s Report
We’re looking good financially. See the financial report in the
Skimmer.
President’s Report
Seventeen people showed up to take the Water Chemistry Test before the
meeting tonight.
Vice President’s Report
Prospective members: Joseph Lerma, Martin Bohaty, John Balster
& Mike Smith.
Chapter supporters: All chapter supporters are in the process
of paying their renewal fee if it is due this spring. National Leak
& Pool Safe have renewed.

Trudy Taylor is out for about the next two months.
Blue cards are due by the July membership meeting.

Entertainment
Good Sky Show! Region 7 picnic is August 5, 2001. It will
be a baseball theme. We are considering a casino night for the Christmas
party this year. Next month July 18th, dinner and the meeting at
DeMilles restaurant.
Continuing Education
Public Relations
We now have the water Watcher Tags, so lets get them out there where
they will do the most good. We would like to get some media attention
on this issue also.Water watcher tags will cost about 70 cents each.
Manufacturing Rebate
We have two FNS Plus Sixty’s available.
Get those Kreepy Krawley invoices turned in so we can get some free
ones.

One man can make a difference. Thanks; to Jon Rumble for his persistence
and vision in getting the Water Watcher Tag program implemented.

Treasurer’s Report
As always we are in extremely good shape financially. (See
printed Skimmer for the detailed report).
Vice President’s Report
Joe Lerma now has attended two general meetings.
Joe Villanoava is a possible new member apprentice.
Mike Smith has attended three meetings and passed the Water Chemistry
Test.
President’s Report
Seventeen people took the Water Chemistry Test on June 20th. The
following individuals passed the test: Frank Bartolo, Terry Burtner,
Dale Eppard, Jay Evans, Tom Gharib, Loren Jarvis, Leif Leloup, Abel Morales,
Mike Smith, Tom Sweeney, Fernando Chavez, David Mason and Mike Mason.
CONGRATULATIONS!
We have lots of Water Watcher Tags available. Take your Designated
Water Watchers letter and Summer Water Saftey Tips letter, along with a
Water Watcher Tag and get them out to your customers.
We would like to thank Nancy Gillespie for all her work on putting these
letters together.
The next Region 7 meeting will be August 21, 2001. The next BORD
will be held on August 18, 2001.

Public Relations
Blood Drive
We are looking into having a bloodmobile at the mandatory November
meeting. A motion was made to have a special raffle at the
Nov. meeting. Each member or family member who donates blood can
win one of 5 $100.00 prizes. There was a second and the motion
passed.
Entertainment
The entertainment committee is looking into getting tickets for the
last home games of the season. This would be for the festivities
surrounding Tony Gwynns retirement.
